When joining college, nursing students are usually gray in many areas, and professional knowledge develops as they learn concepts in their respective fields and network with peers. For nurses to complete their programs successfully, academic and professional support is essential. This support is enhanced by collaborating inter-professionally. Interprofessional collaboration is vital in nursing since it provides nurses with platforms for social and professional interaction as they work in teams (Moss et al., 2016). It is a way to share knowledge and resources.

Networking opens a broader sphere of influence. According to Goolsby and Knestrick (2017), professional networking is an element that enables nurses to communicate with others with shared interests and expertise. It creates relationships that support new opportunities. Khanum et al. (2016) further mentioned that interdisciplinary networking provides nurses with contacts for personal development and establishing contacts that make them better patient care providers. This section of my plan describes the academic and professional resources that I believe will be instrumental in my nursing program.

Notes: Diane Whitehead is experienced and honored in many areas of the nursing practice. Also, she has published several books on the nursing practice and online nursing education. I chose her due to her vast experience in evidence-based practice, having taught several courses in this area. Lehane et al. (2019) and Chien (2019) noted that nurses implement research findings to improve patient outcomes, the work environment, and the clinical practice through evidence-based practice. As I look forward to gaining more knowledge on my program, I will also be looking for guidance and knowledge to supplement what I will be learning. I believe that Diane Whitehead is among the most suited to guide me in this area.

Since these professional bodies have options for nurse students, it is crucial to register to get a chance to know how the health care industry operates. I look forward to benefiting from representation as I use the professional network to expand my knowledge and access more information and resources to become an excellent and committed nurse.

In conclusion, networking enhances professional knowledge diversely. Although nurses gain a lot of information through classwork, they need to discuss concepts from different perspectives, hence networking with their colleagues. Challenges are part of the practice, and nurses require guidance in many areas. Academic and professional networks are the ideal sources of the required support system.

I believe she will be able to guide me through the course by providing or suggesting the right resources to be used. Notes: Elizabeth McDonald has a Master’s degree in Community Counselling. She also has a BA in Sociology. Through continuous education, Elizabeth McDonald obtained a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. She has experience in the counselling programs both for the students and professionals. She has worked in the county jail, juvenile settings, University Counselling, community agencies, and psychological settings. While working in these institutions, she managed to gain experience in dealing with adolescents, children and adults.

Given that nursing programs are characterized by different problems including long times of studies and research processes, there is always a high possibility of developing psychological glitches. I therefore chose Dr. Elizabeth McDonald to help in the counseling processes. I believe she will be able to assist whenever I have emotional problems. The counseling process is essential for learners as it provides solution to both the academic and personal problems. Guidance and counselling is critical in the current education system. In the nursing education, it helps both educators and learners to become more professionals so that they can counter challenges. Dr. Elizabeth McDonald will therefore become a useful member of my network in terms of providing guiding and counselling services.

Notes: Sandrine Happi, CRNP is a registered nurse practitioner working for the Adventist Medical Group. Given her experience in dealing with different patients and healthcare issues, she will be able to provide a gateway to the real world experience in the medical profession. While undertaking nursing studies, it is necessary to have some professional experience. In other words, there is always the need to relate theory that is being taught in class with the real world experiences in the nursing practice.

During my nursing studies, Sandrine Happi will be able to provide a link of getting to know the emergent nursing practices that every future nurse have to adhere to. Also, while undertaking nursing research processes, it is always necessary to have someone to provide support (Broadbent et al., 2016). Given that most of the research processes are undertaken outside the educational institution, it is always necessary to have an individual or a professional who can give the necessary support required.

I chose Sandrine Happi because of her professional experience in the nursing practices. Her nursing philosophy also relates to that what I will be trying to achieve as a nursing student at Walden University. Her philosophy is to provide holistic and empathetic care to different patients and to ensure that they are mentally, physically, and spirituality fit. Sandrine Happi is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Association. Her knowledge and experience in the nursing profession will be useful in my nursing program.

Akosua’s nursing philosophy coincides with what I want to achieve as a professional nurse and as a student. Professional Network in Nursing

Professional networking is a type of social linkage that focuses entirely on the development of relationships and interaction processes among nurses and medical professionals. One can build a network by engaging in seminars and conferences, attending interviews with other specialists in higher positions in the field of healthcare. Also, building a strong network may require a nurse to work as a volunteer in the nursing-related nonprofit institutions. In-person networking usually yields more productive and intimate relationships. Generally, professional networking creates a great opportunity for nurses to acquire experience and knowledge concerning diverse medical practices and in so doing, through their skills, professionalism and competency, they can attract the attention of the employers (Nursing.Org, 2019). In conclusion, professional growth is multifaceted. A significant proportion of knowledge is gained in classwork, but there is a lot a nurse student learns outside the class. One way to enhance professional growth is to collaborate with academic and professional colleagues and consulting with those experienced in practice. In this discussion board, I will introduce myself, discuss how Walden University’s foundation relates to my professional and academic goals, and the importance of networking.

My name is Stephanie Adames and I have been a nurse for 5 years. The only specialty I’ve worked in is ICU and I am so passionate about it that I have never been curious to try other specialties. I live in New Jersey, am recently married, and a new homeowner. My parents were both born and raised in Cuba, therefore Spanish is my first language.  With my free time I enjoy bike riding with my husband at different parks throughout NJ. After COVID hit, I started to realize people in the community lack substantial education on their health problems and are unaware of the importance of staying healthy.  I want to make a change by being a provider who takes the time to educate people and make them are aware of their health.

After several months of researching, I came across Walden University. Immediately what drew me in was the flexibility of classes being online and how everything is at the students’ pace. The part of Walden University’s vision statement that sticks out to me is “recognition as a preeminent 21st-century school of nursing,” (Walden University, n.d.). This vision statement encompasses my ideal learning environment as I proceed in my schooling with Walden. In today’s society, social media is huge in regards to networking (Wofford, P. 2018). Therefore, I will build my network with colleagues through social media and discussion posts. In regards to Walden’s mission statement, what stood out the most to me was “abilities to select and implement evidence-based practices, and core and specialty nursing knowledge in order to transform society,” (Walden University, n.d.). Walden’s mission statement and MSN learning outcome relate to my professional and academic goals because I will graduate with enough knowledge to be able to transform society with evidence-based practices and skills within the Hispanic communities.

I believe in order to be successful in any career, one must have a good foundation and have the ability to network. The videos produced by Laureate Education (2018), talk about a foundation being built off of many things such as collaboration and relationships. Being a nurse for 5 years I’ve built many relationships and met many professional mentors along the way who have inspired me to go back to school to be a nurse practitioner. To be able to succeed “it takes a village” as per Laureate Education (2018), therefore in order to succeed you need help from others. In other words, you take knowledge and advice from people who’ve been in your shoes to better yourself professionally.

In conclusion, I look forward to continuing my education, graduating, and making changes in Hispanic communities.

I enjoyed reading your introduction post. First off, congratulations on your graduation and the drive to pursue further studies. It is also remarkable that you are trying to set an example for your children about the importance of education. Learning is a life-long journey, and there is no limit to it as each day we learn something new that in some way improves our lives or personalities. I liked how you outlined your goals and visions and how they align with those of the University.

I am confident that you will highly benefit from what the courses have to offer. It is also commendable that you decided to pursue education concerning stigmatization and societal intolerance towards people with behavioral disorders. I agree with you that mental health has been a societal issue that needs to be addressed and given more attention. Many people are battling depression, anxiety, trauma, and other cognitive and behavioral problems, especially now that there is a pandemic and they do not get the support they need (Pike, 2018).

To gain knowledge and skills that will help us make positive changes in our communities, we need to network. Professional networking helps us achieve our professional goals and offer a support system where colleagues and experts can share and learn from one another (Echevarria, 2018).  Another way you can use to network is by attending nursing events such as seminars/conferences and other meetings. Here, one can meet various people and peers with vast experiences and knowledge. Through talking, exchange of emails, LinkedIn pages, and business cards, professionals improve themselves and can help their patients in some way with those contacts (Drake, 2017). I have also found elevator pitches to be very useful in networking. They are usually brief and give a complete array of interests, skills, and achievements to draw peers with the same interests (Drake, 2017).

My journey as a nurse has been full of learning moments over the past 3 years, I have become very interested in patients requiring mental health evaluations.  I’ve been part of the healthcare system of the Department of Veteran Affairs for 3 years. My personal and professional goal is been part of the specialty clinic of Mental Health and suicide prevention as a nurse practitioner. To accomplish this goal, I have to be prepared field, and advance my practice as a nurse practitioner.

Public service is my passion and I will be fulfilling my duty to my country providing the best of my knowledge. I consider    Walden University has the right approach and experience to help me provide a state-of-the-art graduate education. My busy schedule with 12-hr. shift plus family was one of the reason I decided to continue my education online. According to the Walden University (2011a) the vision to transform nurses so that they can help the community goes along with my desire to make a better healthcare system. The SON also mention that this program is academically rigorous and contextual relevant. Walden University 2011a, para4). With the faculty and resources they provide, this journey will be one of sacrifices that at the end will put all nurses and the faculty better professionals and at the end the community will benefit of the outcome.

As the Walden university defined positive social change ‘’a deliberate process of creating and applying ideas, strategies and action to promote the worth dignity and development of individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures and societies’’ My passion is with the community and public service specially the veteran’s community. By Day 7

I wanted to converse about discussion question responses. Overall, this is one of the BEST parts of the week as we all get to engage in an informative discussion on a key issue of the course. To meet the requirements of discussion posts, note the following:

  • First, there are 2 discussion questions each week. Students are required to respond to EACH original discussion post. Example: in Week 1 there is an initial post required that addresses the first discussion question, and an initial post required that addresses the second discussion thread. Both of these posts will be graded as a response to the original question and DO NOT count towards weekly participation.
  • Second, to meet participation requirements, you must respond to 3 other students during the week. You may choose the discussion thread (either the first or the second discussion thread) and student you respond to, or you can respond to the instructor (me), but there must be 3 separate response posts to others in the classroom in order to be eligible for maximum participation points. Again, your initial response to the discussion questions does not count towards participation.

There is an automatic deduction of 1/3 the total points if you only post 2 response messages during the week, and 2/3 of the total points if you only post 1 response message during the week.

  • Finally, each week I will post a CAT (Classroom Assessment Technique) question in the Discussion Board. You can choose either to respond to this question or not, but you are NOT required to do so. However, if you choose to respond to the CAT Discussion Question, that WILL COUNT towards meeting your participation requirement (but not in submitted your response to the original question in each discussion thread). So, if you want to respond to the CAT question, note that your response will be counted and included in meeting your participation requirements.

What type of messages must you post, and what are the word requirements? In general, your messages must be substantive and advance the discussion. In this regard, be sure I would make sure that your post contains around 200+ words. It is difficult to gain influence from your viewpoint without a substantive, comprehensive response. Discussion questions mimic the business world in that you are often asked a particular question (via email, voice mail, etc.) and asked to respond to that question with a detailed, substantive response. With that in mind, here are some great hints on superior discussion posts:

  • Ensure that you answer the question. Here is a great tip to ensure you answer the question asked every time it is asked: use a highlighter and highlight every part of your response that directly answers the question asked.
  • Substantive answers. In the business or professional world, you are often not judged by how many answers you give, but rather the quality of the answer itself. In essence: it is more important to have fewer, high quality posts rather than many, low quality posts. Therefore, concentrate on the right posts, and those posts are reflective of cited information (including facts, statistics, theories, etc.) and substantively and comprehensively address the question or problem at hand. In general, though, it is almost impossible to post a message of substance in less than 150 words, so be sure that your posts meet that criteria.

Include citations. In general, include a citation in about half of your posts. Doing so indicates you have read the course materials and searched far and wide for theories, statistics, and facts, to comprehensively address the issue at hand. With those thoughts, I thought it may be appropriate to offer an example of a great post. This is from a former student who indicated I could share it with you. Here you go

RE: Discussion – Week 1

I have been a nurse for 20 years in clinical and managerial positions.  The pace of technology in healthcare has increased exponentially since I began my career in nursing.  With continuous technological advancements in healthcare, one must be willing to embrace change to succeed.  My philosophy in nursing is to continue to be a lifelong learner; my experiences with technology is the driving force has led me to have an unwavering interest in.

I am a Registered Nurse, and I practiced 17 years of my career managing a long-term inpatient psychiatric facility. I am also a father, a husband, and a son. I chose Walden because of its diverse community of career professionals. I believe that Walden University’s MSN Program will help me grow as a scholar-practitioner. I will learn from various experiences and knowledge from my classmates, colleagues, and professors from different parts of the United States. I also want to become part of a diverse community aiming to make a positive impact on mental health. While honing skills in communication, assessment, quality improvement, and integration of cost-effective care; Walden University’s flexible program will allow me to fulfill my academic goal while I fulfill my duties to my family, colleagues, and patients. Walden University’s MSN program will allow me to acquire the necessary tools to become part of positive social change in mental health. 

      My academic and professional goal is to complete the MSN program and bring wisdom back to the mental health community. I will use that wisdom in breaking the stigma of mental health, providing cost-effective health care, and reduce the healthcare disparity in mental health. Through Walden, I will build networks of friends and fellow scholar-practitioner that will soon become leaders and pillars of the community in different parts of the country. One of Walden University’s MSN Program outcomes is to will help me hone my skills in various forms of communication. Through communication, we will break the stigma and ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care. Through the Application of Continues Quality Improvement to deliver high-quality care and reduce the health care disparity in mental health. While practicing nursing with integrity, maintaining honesty, and high-quality nursing care.

        Finally, I understand that path to the MSN will be arduous. There will be a time when we will be forced to fulfill multiple responsibilities. Through networking, I will build a community within and outside of the program that will help me succeed in this journey. I am looking forward to connecting with and learning from my fellow scholar-practitioner and teammates. I am a firm believer that in any successful endeavor, there is a community behind it. Networking is a community with the same goal. Networking is vital in our role as scholar-practitioner because we not only learn through textbooks and academia but through the experiences and wisdom of others around us. Being part of Walden University and the MSN program will greatly increase my chances of fulfilling my personal and academic goals. 

My Vision for my time at Walden

           I chose Walden because their mission statement promotes a “…diverse array of nursing professionals seeking enhancement of critical thinking skills, abilities to select and implement evidence-based practices, and core and specialty nursing knowledge in order to transform society” (Walden University, 2020). This conforms with my goals to become a practitioner of change, not only for myself with obtaining the knowledge in nursing informatics, but to be able to transform individuals, communities and organizations with simplified navigation and convenient systems, not just another mobile application.

The MS in Nursing Informatics at Walden “prepares nurses to more effectively utilize information technology to enhance the quality of patient care” (Walden University, 2020). This specialization will allow me to optimize the knowledge and experience I already have and enhance my career pursuits. This will enable me to leverage innovation and technology in any healthcare system.

Social Change in My Pursuits

Walden University (2020) defines “positive social change as a deliberate process of creating and applying ideas, strategies, and actions to promote the worth, dignity, and development of individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, and societies”.  This aligns with the core values associated with the nursing profession. In my practice I have educated, mentored and taken care of patients and co-workers. 

I am optimistic that I can integrate Nursing Informatics into my practice, although I understand my focus will shift from direct patient care to indirect. Walden University (2020) states that “Positive social change results in the improvement of human and social conditions”. While I might not be directly impacting patient care, facilitating nursing care by effective use of technology ultimately improves quality of care outcomes and decreases frustration from healthcare workers. This parallels my goals and serves as a solid foundation for my current and future practice.

Credit Hours

  • 3 credits in 11 weeks

Walden University assigns credit hours based on the number and type of assignments that enable students to achieve the course learning objectives. In general, each semester credit equals about 42 hours of total student work and each quarter credit equals about 28 hours of total student work. This time requirement represents an approximate average for undergraduate work and the minimum expectations for graduate work. In this course students are introduced to Walden University and online learning. Students explore strategies for the successful participation in an online curriculum. Students also will receive a foundation for academic and professional success as scholar-practitioners and social change agents. Primary and Secondary Sources

Review the following information prior to selecting resources for assignments.

Primary: A primary source is an original document that is the first account of what happened. A research report is primary, and you can tell because it includes materials and methods demonstrating how the research was done. Some creative work is also primary, such as poetry, novels, and interviews of people who experienced something firsthand. In nursing, which is an evidence-based discipline, we strive to use primary research that is published in scholarly, peer-reviewed journals.

Scholarly, peer-reviewed journal: Scholarly journals publish papers by professional authors and experts in the field using a peer-review process to review the work and assure quality before publishing. The focus of a scholarly journal is to provide accurate information for scholars and other researchers. The focus is on content rather than advertising, a direct contrast to popular media. Scholarly journals publish both primary and secondary papers, the former usually noted as original research and the latter as reviews and commentaries. Letters to the editor may also be published but should be recognized as opinion pieces.

Note: When selecting articles for course assignments, you are advised (unless you are referencing seminal information) to focus on work published within the past five years.

Secondary: A secondary source is one step removed from the original source. This work interprets and often compiles other work, and it includes review articles, textbooks, fact sheets, and commentaries about a topic. It also includes news reports of original research. Secondary work is more prone to error and bias than primary work because it is being filtered through an additional person or persons. Review papers can be useful to glean information about a topic and to find other sources from the reference list, but it is the original, primary research that should be relied on most heavily in demonstrating scholarship, depth, and validation of factual information.

  1. Participation in weekly Discussions: The exchange of ideas among colleagues engaged in scholarly inquiry is a key aspect of learning and is a requisite activity in this course. You are expected to participate each week by posting a response to a prompt or question in the weekly Discussion area. In addition, you are expected to respond to your fellow students’ postings. To count as participation, responses need to be thoughtful; that is, they must refer to the week’s readings, relevant issues in the news, information obtained from other sources, and/or ideas expressed in the postings of other class members. Portfolio Assignment: Each course in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program for the following specializations includes a Portfolio Assignment: Nursing Education, Nurse Executive, Nursing Informatics, and Public Health Nursing. The Portfolio Assignment is designed to measure specific professional knowledge and skills as outlined in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Master’s Essentials. Students submit the Portfolio Assignment in the online classroom and a criterion-based scoring rubric is used to grade the assignment. The rubric is aligned with American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Master’s Essentials and provides specific and informative feedback on your performance.   3. Use ONLY your Walden student email for communication with any Walden University representative. When communicating with your Instructor ALWAYS include your course number and section. Within this course I posted in the announcements numerous times your specific course number and section, as well asked that you include that information when emailing me. Sadly, I received emails that did not include this information, this delayed my assisting you as I had to request your course number and section. This alerts me that course announcements were not being thoroughly and completely reviewed. Going forward it is highly unlikely Instructors will respond to any email other than your Walden student email as email not in Walden origin routinely gets flagged as spam then deleted. Also be fully aware that Instructors required to respond to any email other than your designated Walden Student email.
  4. Be mindful if you do not participate in any Walden course during the 1st week (Day 1 through Day 7) – you will be removed from the course by Walden University regardless of your excuse. Introduction

Hello and welcome all! My name is n. I have never been called by my first name, as people have such a difficult time with pronunciation. I go by Von, which is short for my first name deriving from German language of origin. or my middle name Kenee’ which I usually tell people it is Renee’ with a K.  I grew up in Louisiana primarily but live in the great state of Texas. I graduated with my BSN in 2005. I was young and thought I could obtain an advanced nursing degree without working first.  Initially, I began working in ICU/Step Down. I cried nearly every single day. Growing up and deciding to work in a small town had its perks, but it also had downsides. The average price of gas at that time was around $3.80. I worked 5 miles from where I lived. That was a huge perk at the time. On the other end, I did not fully understand death and dying at such an age. Although I loved the adrenal rush I felt when a part of a team being saving lives, I felt energy pleated watching the faces of people I knew personally lose their loved one. Not to mention the pay was $17.00 an hour! It simply was not what I had in mind!

After 6 months I decided to do what I enjoyed most during clinical rotations, Behavioral Health or Psych as we referred to it. I moved to Texas and began working at a behavioral health hospital in the Emergency Psychiatric Services Department. It was faced paced, and I saw everything and everyone who presented through the back door, literally. About 2 years later, I got the opportunity of a lifetime at that point in my career. I went from being a nurse with 2 years’ experience to managing others. It did come with a bit of a twist, however. I went from the acute care setting to sub-acute care setting in a long-term care facility. A place I dared to go.

Networking

I did an enrichment program the summer going into my senior year of high school, in which, I took college courses. In order to keep the high school students as safe as possible, the idea was to keep us together. We were all assigned core courses such as English, Calculus and Trigonometry, and Electives. Nursing majors were only required to take College Algebra. I already knew I wanted to become a nurse. While familiarizing me to one of his Alma Matters, my dad happened to spot his old, retired college professor. To my surprise he was teaching summer courses, College Algebra to be exact. I was immediately placed in College Algebra at 16 years of age with a class full of Sophomores, Juniors and even Seniors. I was great in math, but I was a bit intimidated. My dad had warned me that Dr. Blakely was nothing nice and had failed his own wife. It is good to always have a purpose for networking (Walden University, 2020).

Networking is an essential part of growth in your career. The same person I helped with Algebra hired me as her ADON. She became my mentor and introduced me to the right people. Within the first year I was offered a DON position, I politely turned down. My recommended candidate through networking was hired. There’s no reason to believe that networking plays any less of a role in landing nursing jobs (Schmidt, 2018). Networking is a free and easy tool we are all able to utilize.

Goals and Walden University

I knew before I began undergraduate studies, I wanted to get a master’s degree. I put it off repeatedly. Later in my career, I began researching PMHNP programs. Walden was one of few to offer the program online. At that time, there was not many schools even offering PMHNP programs and online programs were not glorified. Over a decade later, most schools offer online options.  Online learning environments allow everyone the opportunity to speak up and be heard (Walden University 2020).

I currently work in an underserved community in my current role as new school nurse. I am in constant contact with high school teens suffering from some form of mental or behavioral health issues. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among high school-aged youths 14-18 years after unintentional injuries (CDC 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey). There is no time greater than the present to aid in this crisis. For more than 50 years, WU mission has been to deliver high quality, flexible educational opportunities to students seeking to improve their lives and the world around them. My goal is to obtain my advanced degree to help improve the lives and world around me. WU will allow me the opportunity to be apart of an even greater network and bring more awareness in underserviced communities.

 I chose Walden University.  A higher degree.  A higher purpose.

The analysis of research articles and their application in academic success and professional development is critical for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) specializing in mental health issues. Research analysis provides a platform for researchers to have an enhanced understanding of the different topics of interest to attain deliver quality patient care and attain better outcomes (Abiri et al., 2022). Obesity is a national public health issue and have significant effects on mental health. Imperatively, I have identified a topic of interest for further study. I have also researched and identified one peer-reviewed research article focused on the topic and identified a peer-reviewed research article on the effects of obesity on mental health and analyzed it. The purpose of this part of the academic plan paper is to present the results of these efforts.

Step 2: Summary of Analysis

The identification and analysis of peer-reviewed research article requires one to have an effective strategy and deploy relevant databases and search terminologies to get the relevant research sources. In this case, I began by looking at the relevant databases and journals as provided in the university library. These included National Library of Medicine’s PubMed, CINHAL complete and Web of Science. I also focused on articles concerned with adolescent’s mental health issues and obesity like the BMC Public Health.

The next step was to narrow my research search results by using key terms and worlds like “obesity and mental health,” “mental health disorders associated with overweight,” “adolescents and mental health,” and effects of poor weight on mental health among teens.” I then determined the relevance of the information from the article through reading the abstract and full-text articles. I also ensured that the articles that I got are full-text articles to obtain all possible information, especially the limitations of the study. I then analyzed the article based on its relevance to the topic of interest. I also ensured that the articles were published in the last five years.

Having effective strategies is essential in research analysis. In this case, the two strategies that I used include getting journal articles published by well-known and respected organizations and researchers to attain their credibility and reliability. The second strategy was using the peer-review process that entails having the articles evaluated by other experts within the professional before their publication in the respective journals (Mei et al., 2020). For instance, ensuring that the articles are listed in an online database like PubMed which is run by the National Library of Medicine was a critical part of the strategies to get quality sources during the research process. I also used keywords and terms in the search to identify research articles and studies that had relevant information on the topic of interest.

The PubMed, especially its online database, is a great resource that I intend to use in getting peer-reviewed research study articles. Managed by the National Library of Medicine, this resource has many articles that are peer-reviewed and full-text to help one generate sufficient information on their research topic and interest. Getting peer-reviewed research on any topic on this database implores one to enter keywords related to the topic in the database and filter the results using the terms “peer-reviewed.”

Conclusion

Research analysis is a core aspect of getting resources that address topics of interest to researchers in any situation. In this case, the identified article shows a significant relationship between obesity and mental health disorders among adolescents. Imperatively, PMHNPs can leverage the resource to improve interventions aimed at addressing mental health issues among adolescents in their practice environment. The findings from this study are not only reliable but also valid and implore providers to address the issue in the most effective manner to reduce adverse effects associated with obesity in mental health.

I selected Dr. Williams because she is currently the Program Coordinator of the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program at Walden University. She has more than 20 years of experience practicing nursing and advanced practice nursing and over 10 years of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels (Walden University, 2020). Dr. Williams is known for her sincere passion for teaching and mentoring. Thus, she will be an ideal mentor since I am in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program. 

It will be essential to approach Dr. Williams and express my interest in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nursing. I will also request her to guide me throughout the program to gain the knowledge and attitude needed for a Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP.
